Hey mama! How often have you set a New Year’s resolution and felt utterly over it by mid-February? We’ve all been there! But this year, we’re doing things differently. It’s time to leave behind the guilt and pressure of traditional resolutions and step into 2025 with clarity, purpose and a plan that works for YOU.

Our No Year’s Resolution Party is where it all begins. Join us on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 1 to 4 PM at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Knoxville Branch, for an afternoon of empowerment, creativity, and self-discovery.

Here’s what you can expect from this transformative event:

Learn to Set Goals That Work for You

Let’s stop trying to do everything simultaneously and setting unreal and unattainable goals, because of society’s New Year’s resolution tradition. Instead, let’s focus on goals and intentions that align with our values. Susan Jackson, Pegasystems Senior Director, Head of Global People Operations, People Advisor, and People Compliance, will break it down for us. With years of experience leading teams and managing priorities, Susan will share practical strategies for setting goals, tracking progress, and staying resilient when life throws us curveballs.

Bring Your Dreams to Life

Who says vision boards are basic? At the No Year’s Resolution Party, you’ll create a personalized prayer or wish board with guidance from Heather Hopson, Single Dr. Rikell Ford. Dr. Ford, a social worker, coach, and supervisor at the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, will help you channel your intentions into a powerful visual representation of your aspirations.

Whether building your dream career, deepening your faith, or finding more time for joy, your vision board will remind you that what you focus on grows.

Stamp Your Motivational Mantra

What word will carry you through 2025? Power? Joy? Grace? During this creative workshop, you’ll stamp your word of the year onto a sleek metal bracelet—a wearable reminder of your intentions.

This bracelet will serve as daily motivation and has serious style cred. Fun fact: Kanye West rocked a similar piece on his Time magazine cover shoot.

Why This Event is for YOU

This isn’t just another workshop—a space designed specifically for Black women and moms to come together, reflect, and recharge. Here’s why you need to be in the room:

  • We see you, Sis. Life feels like juggling responsibilities, like raising families, holding down jobs, and chasing dreams. And no one understands that more than other women and fellow moms.  This event is your chance to pause, breathe, and focus on yourself in an environment where you are seen and valued.
  • We support intention, not perfection. You don’t need a long list of resolutions to experience growth and achieve goals. You just need clarity, purpose, and a plan drafted in a way that aligns with how you live your life. You won’t find any cookie-cutter busy work over here – just deep, intentional work.
  • Community matters. Our No Year’s Resolution Party is more than an event; it’s a space to connect with other women who get it and will cheer you on as you chase your goals. We hope you’ll find accountability partners during the event who you can connect with whenever you need support.

We hope to see you there! Reserve your spot by visiting Eventbrite here.

5 Tips to Step Into the New Year with Confidence

Ready to make 2025 your year? Even after the event, these five practical tips can help you enter the new year with purpose.

  1. Start Small. You don’t have to do everything at once. Choose one area of your life to focus on—self-care, career, mom life, or relationships—and build from there.
  2. Find Your Support System. Surround yourself with people who uplift you. Join the Single Mom Defined community on Facebook for encouragement and accountability.
  3. Visualize Your Goals. Whether it’s a prayer board, a journal, or a screensaver, keep your goals visible to remind yourself of what you’re working toward.
  4. Celebrate Your Wins. Every step forward is progress. Celebrate the small victories—they’re just as important as the big ones.
  5. Give Yourself Grace. Life happens. If you miss a step or need to pivot, it’s okay. The journey is just as important as the destination.

What would you add to this list to help other moms make 2025 their best year yet?
